Starting in Los Angeles, California, literally and figuratively breaking away from earthly pleasures through fog, calm winds and headwinds until, with patience, the mighty Eastern Trade Winds are reached, where you can surf the long, high azure blue Pacific waves all the way to Honolulu in Hawaii. Two thousand two hundred nautical miles of adventure in what is “perhaps” the world’s most beautiful ocean race.

Mandatory training trips.
To sail this beautiful race, you must have sailed a respectable number of miles beforehand. An Atlantic crossing, a number of well-known races such as the Fastnet or Middle Sea Race, and a crossing with Hans Bouscholte are also required. There must be good chemistry on board; atmosphere and hard sailing go hand in hand, hence the training beforehand.
